Principal English horn with the Berlin Deutsche Oper Orchestra

Iveta Hylasová Bachmannová (English horn and oboist), born in Košice, Slovakia, studied oboe with Stefan Sklenka at the music college of her native country, before continuing her training at the Prague Academy of Music under Ludmila Ježová, as well as doing summer courses under Maurice Borgue and Jean-Louis Capezzali. She has won numerous top-level competitions, including the Czech Music Fund prize for best interpretation of contemporary compositions.
Her first orchestral experience was with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, before going on to become principal oboe of the Košice Philharmonic, then principal English horn with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and lastly principal oboe with the Prague Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. Since 2003, Iveta Hylasová Bachmannová has been principal English horn with the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
The breadth of his talent has repeatedly been demonstrated by his numerous solo appearances with renowned Czech orchestras, as well as at the Prague Spring festival, his concerts with the Harmonie Ensemble New York, and his performances with chamber soloists from the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Added to this are his numerous recordings which include Honegger's Concerto for flute, English horn & orchestra conducted by Serge Baudo, and a solo album dedicated to the English horn with compositions by Telemann, Haydn and Rejcha, to name but a few.
Iveta Hylasová Bachmannová works on a regular basis with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Staatskapelle Dresden, Hamburg Opera, Konzerthausorchester and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
