Shinichi Iwamoto

Professor and supervisory manager of the Wind Instrument Course at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music.
Iwamoto was born in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. In 1982, he won first place at the International Youth Music Competition, and in 1984 he enrolled in the Tokyo University of the Arts. While a student, he joined the Fine Arts Saxophone Ensemble and the Harmo Saxophone Quartet. He has appeared in NHK-FM broadcasts and given concerts and workshops throughout Japan. Iwamoto graduated from university in 1988. After which, he participated in a newcomer concert, and participated in the 9th World Saxophone Congress in Kawasaki, Japan. The following year, he travelled to France and attended a course by Daniel Deffayet, in the prefecture of Annecy. Since then, he has been active in solo and studio work, as an extra in orchestras, and with the Tokyo Brass Band and Japan Super Band. In 2000, Iwamoto premiered A. Reed's Children's Suite for Alto Saxophone and Band in Denver, Colorado, USA. Since 2001, he has been a member of the Quatre Roseaux Saxophone Ensemble. In 2002 he performed at the Asian Contemporary Music Festival in Seoul, Korea. He has also toured Japan with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Super World Orchestra, and others. Iwamoto is currently a professor at Senzoku Gakuen School of Music, where he is in charge of the wind instrument course. Iwamoto studied saxophone under Kazuo Tomioka and Akiyoshi Kamei.
